Around Garrettsville: Pride and Prejudice opens next month

"Pride and Prejudice," performed by Curtains up Theatre, runs Aug. 1, 2, 7 and 8. Thank you to the sponsors: Ryser Insurance, Middlefield Carter Lumber, Jeff Rinearson Health Insurance, and Sarchione Chevrolet.

The show will be in the James A. Garfield Iva Walker auditorium at 7 p.m. Aug. 1, 7 and 8 and 1 p.m. Aug. 2. Tickets are available at the door. Our prices are the same as when we opened the doors 20 years ago. Adults are $10 and children under 12 and seniors over 65 are $8.


The Garrettsville Farmers Market is up and running. Come by on Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and support your local businesses. The market runs until Aug. 27 on High and Main Street.


The Curtains up Theatre is selling bricks and chair plates as a fundraiser for their future theater in Garrettsville. Curtains up Theatre is working with a few local businesses and past residents to bring back a theater/building back to main street. The Sip n Shop is just around the corner. On July 25 from 2 to 7 p.m., come out to Main Street to shop with local artisans and sample the wonders to five local wineries. Mopre than 40 artisans and five wineries will decorate Main Street.


The Portage County District Library is collaborating with the Rotary Club of Garrettsville to celebrate 100 years of the Rotary Club. They are opening the new StoryWalk at the Village Park on the Tom Collins walking path.

Come out on July 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be hot dogs and ice cream. Bill Starcher will be showcasing his tire creations.
