Around Garrettsville: Community events finalized for 2026
- Jackie Loreta-Rinearson
The Sip n Shop on Main Street committee is busy preparing for this year’s event, which is set for July 25. The event runs from 2 to 7 p.m. Artisans/crafters are encouraged to register with Jackie Rinearson at rinearson05@frontier.com, and wineries are to contact Sherri Collins at sherricollins57@gmail.com.
Again, there will be demos on the hour, music and great food. Crafters and artisans will speckle the sidewalks, with wineries lining the center of Main Street.
The renovation inside the Garrettsville branch of the Portage County District Library is finished. Stop in to see the renovation and browse around for a great read while you are there. When was the last time you stopped in the library?
The Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce announced some of the events for 2026:
- The St. Patrick’s Day festivities will once again take place. They promise a family-friendly event with activities for all ages, including carriage rides.
- Garage sale weekend is scheduled for May 15-17. Registration will open March 1, with a fee of $20.
- The Chamber’s car cruises are set for the following dates and locations: May 23 on Main Street; June 20 at the SkyLane Bowling parking lot; July 17 on Main Street again; and the fan favorite, the Peach Social and Car Cruise, will take place Aug. 15 at the Garrettsville fire station.
- The Garrettsville Summerfest is set for June 26-28, and the Oktoberfest will take place in the fall.
Main Street welcomes its new restaurant opening Feb. 21: Podboys Uptown. Advertising as a bistro-style diner featuring Belgian waffles, eggs Benedict, salads and smashburgers, Podboys is not new to the food scene, with its roots going back to 1940. The new and refreshing breakfast and brunch destination is less than two weeks away.
An author event featuring Jackie Rinearson and Cambree will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 7, with storytime beginning at 11 a.m. The event will be held at Books A Go Go at 220 W. Main St. in Ravenna. Copies of the book “Cambree’s Adventure on the Mysterious Path” will be available, and Cambree will be on hand for autographs.
