Around Edinburg: Spring cleanup is set for May 2 and 3

- Cathy Klein

When dropping off my recycling, I was pleasantly surprised to see a United States flag retirement drop box now located near the township buildings behind Edinburg Town Hall. If you have a flag that is no longer repairable, please drop it off to be properly disposed of. The address is 6856 Tallmadge Rd.

The March meeting of the Edinburg Ohio Historical Society was held Feb. 12 at Edinburg Town Hall. Official membership forms are now available on the Edinburg Ohio Historical Society Facebook group page. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join. The group is collaborating with the Edinburg Park Board to create a time capsule for the 250th anniversary of America in 2026. If you have anything you would like to include or ideas pertaining to the time capsule, please contact any member or attend a meeting. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month at Town Hall. The next meeting will take place April 9.

Edinburg United Church will host a Lent program for school-aged children from kindergarten to fifth grade from 6 to 7:30 p.m. the first three Wednesdays of April. There will be crafts, songs, games and Bible stories focused on growing closer to Jesus. Register now at https://bit.ly?growcloser2025, and email Melissa Dills with any questions at dillsmelissa70@gmail.com. Edinburg United Church is located at 4081 Rock Spring Rd.

Spring Clean Up Days will be held May 2 and 3 behind Town Hall. Residents of the township can bring any trash or scrap that needs to be disposed of. Tires, paint and televisions will not be accepted.

Don’t forget that the Southeast music program will hold a music gala at 7 p.m. March 22 at Packard Music Hall in Warren. This gala is a fundraiser for the Instrument Replacement Fund and should be a fun musical night for everyone. The event will feature Streetcorner Symphony, The Panyard Steel Orchestra, Southeast Schools band and choir, and musician/singer/songwriter and Barenaked Ladies founding member Steven Page. Tickets for the event can be purchased at www.streetcornersymphony.com.

Don’t forget to send information to my email at CM101495@aol.com by the second Wednesday of the month to be included in the column and thank you.

Around Edinburg: Celebrating Ravenna’s new book store

- by Cathy Klein .

On Aug. 30, I celebrated the Grand Opening of my bookstore in Ravenna, Books a Go Go. I could not have dreamed of a better day and cannot thank the members of the community enough for coming out to show their support. Thank you as well to the Main Street Ravenna organization and the Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce for putting together a great Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
