Around Edinburg: Rummage sale and soccer registration coming soon
- Cathy Klein
True North Vacation Bible School at Edinburg United Church was a five-day success in early July. More than 45 campers learned about trusting Jesus through songs, crafts, games and Bible stories.
More than 30 volunteers led these campers on this Alaskan adventure, which ended with a family celebration on Friday where campers shared their songs and Bible verses learned throughout the week. The campers collected school supplies to be donated to Southeast students in need this fall. A huge thanks to all who made this VBS possible.
The Edinburg United Church will also be hosting a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 on the lawn of the church. Any community member is welcome to rent a 14×14 foot spot to sell their own items. Each spot is $15, and costs $20 if you would like a table included. Contact the church with any questions at 330-325-1532 or edinburgchurch@gmail.com. Visit the following link to sign up: https://edinburg.breezechms.com/form/d19b1855. The church is located at 4081 Rock Spring Rd.
Both Aaron Barn and David Metzger of the Edinburg Fire Department recently graduated from the paramedic program and passed the National Registry. The program requires over a year of dedication and sacrifice from them and their families. Congratulations to them on their accomplishment.
My daughter, Hannah Klein, also completed the paramedic program in June through University Hospitals Geauga and passed her National Registry. She is employed full-time at the South Euclid Fire Department and part-time at the Chagrin Valley Fire Department. Thank you to South Euclid Fire Chief Paul Tepley and Assistant Chief Larry Gaspar for attending her graduation from the program.
Southeast Youth Soccer Association fall registration is now open. Sign up ASAP so we can ensure a team for your child before the deadline. Follow the link below to register your child: https://leagues.bluesombrero.com/SEYSA.

Believe it or not, kids go back to school next month on Aug. 28, with Southeast Open House being held Aug. 25. The middle school supply list is posted on the school’s website at www.sepirates.org. That is the only current list on the website, but the previous year for the primary school is still listed as well.
Please send information to my email at CM101495@aol.com by the second Wednesday of the month to be included in the column and thank you.
