Around Edinburg: Halloween is closer than you think

Books a Go Go will have two more author events coming up, beginning with New York Times best-selling author Misty Wilson from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. Her newest title is “Falling Like Leaves,” which is a young-adult romance. Books signed by the author will be available for purchase.

The following week, Abby White will be at the shop for an author discussion and signing for her new book, “D.J. Rosenblum Becomes the G.O.A.T.” This event is hosted in conjunction with NAMI Portage County and will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22.

The Southeast High School marching band will participate in the Waterloo Band Show on Saturday, Oct. 18; the event starts at 7 p.m. The show will take place at the Waterloo High School football field at 1464 Industry Rd. Admission is $5, and concessions will be available.
The Southeast PTO will host its annual Trunk-or-Treat and Fall Carnival on Saturday, Oct. 18 in the Southeast Elementary School parking lot. The carnival will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., with Trunk-or-Treat taking place from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will also feature activities and food trucks. The Carnival Game Passport costs $5 and allows you to collect a prize at the end. Check out the PTO’s Facebook page for full details.
Edinburg’s annual Trunk-or-Treat will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 at Edinburg Township Park at 4326 Rock Spring Rd. The fun will feature costume contests that include pets, a trunk/car decoration contest and hayrides in addition to the trunk-or-treating. Refreshments will also be available. The township will gladly accept donations for that day to add to the Park Fund and the Town Hall AED.
The Edinburg Ohio Historical Society recently helped out with the annual Edinburg United Church Apple Pie Fundraiser. The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Edinburg Town Hall.
