“Mental Health in the Workplace” is the theme for this year’s Leadership Portage County Annual Conference being held April 7 at the NEOMED NEW Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Hollie Strano, WKYC Meteorologist and Anchor of 3GO and host of Live on Lakeside, will deliver the keynote address during lunch.
“Leadership Portage County provides opportunities to build professional relationships and to serve as a catalyst for positive change in Portage County,” said Kurt Ruehr, executive director of Leadership Portage County.
Local experts will cover topics such as how to increase your mental bandwidth, positive psychology in the workplace, employing individuals with disabilities, handling stress and mindfulness. Participants will also be trained how to assist someone in psychological distress.
Ruehr and Portage Leadership’s Board of Directors selected mental health to be the focus of their annual conference. “We have been seeing first-hand the impact of mental health on the quality of life in Portage County, pronounced even more since the pandemic,” Ruehr explained. “We present this conference as a tool that will benefit the overall health and wellbeing of their organizations and themselves.”
Business and organizations also have the opportunity sponsor the event and have a vendor table to share information about their products and services with attendees.
Continuing education units will be available for counselors and social workers.
The conference is open to the public. Cost is $50 LPC alumni or $60 per person and includes lunch. Register online at leadershipportagecounty.org. For more information about the conference and sponsorships, contact Kurt Ruehr at [email protected].
