Mantua Village Council appointed Tammy Meyer as council president Tuesday night following Matt Rosolowski’s resignation last week on June 7.

“The only reason I am resigning is because I am moving out of the village and selling my house,” he wrote in his resignation letter. “This all developed very suddenly and anyone familiar with my affection for our community can imagine how disappointed I am.”

He continued, “All I wanted to do was contribute what I could to help make the village a better place and hope that is what you will remember of me.”

Meyer was sworn in as a council member on Aug. 18, following the resignation of former Council President Dave Sluka. Rosolowski, who rose to president at the same time, has served for about a year.

Mantua is accepting letters of interest from residents to fill Rosolowski’s seat for a term that expires Dec. 31, 2023.

Meyer said her priorities are attracting young families to the village, becoming better educated about the village’s infrastructure, and being accessible to residents by going out into the community more to listen to their views.

Former council member Paula Tubalkain, who voted for Meyer in August, said she believes Meyer is a great addition to the council because she likes to discuss issues, share her observations and ask questions.

Meyer, who has a professional background in finance, works as a branch office administrator for Edward Jones Investments, a financial services firm in Chardon, according to her LinkedIn profile.
