Portage County overwhelmingly favored abortion rights and legal marijuana

- Rachel Abbey McCafferty

Ohio voters strongly supported two contentious issues on the Nov. 7, 2023 ballot: Issue 1 on abortion rights and Issue 2 on the legalization of marijuana.

While votes are still being counted in places across the state, both issues have been called by multiple media organizations, with each expected to pass with sizable margins.

Portage County voters followed suit. The county Board of Elections’ final unofficial report for the night shows Issue 1 passed 34,476 to 22,316 in the county. Issue 2 was a little closer, but it still passed 33,132 to 23,582.
