David Martin Bissler

David Martin Bissler, 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Danbury Assisted Living in Tallmadge, Ohio. He was born and raised in Kent, Ohio, and given his lifelong nickname of “Dudey Do”, later just “Dude”, by his brothers and sisters. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent in 1952. His love of cars started at an early age when he traded his pony for his first of many, beloved cars. After high school, set up on a blind date by friends, he met the love of his life Janet Crosier. They married on September 3, 1955, at St. Patrick’s Church in Kent and built a legacy of love that lasted 70 years.
Dude began his career at Colonial Machine in Kent. He then started, with his partners, Leader Mold in Ravenna, Ohio. In the early 1970’s he was ready to start a new venture called Orbit Mold, with Janet by his side running the office, and partner Ray Kemmery. Dude and Janet retired from Orbit Mold in 1999.
He enjoyed a lifetime of fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, tennis and woodworking, making countless gifts for his children and grandchildren. He and Janet spent many years on bleacher seats and sidelines proudly watching his children and grandchildren perform. He enjoyed spending time with Janet welcoming family and friends to their Florida home, creating wonderful memories for so many.
With a toolkit always at the ready, Dude lent a helping hand with countless projects that his kids would get into. His smile was infectious. Although he did have a slight ornery streak which “Jenny” would sometimes have to keep in check.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul R. Bissler and Martha M. (Winkler) Bissler; siblings, Mary Evelyn Bissler, Joseph L. Bissler, Paul Joseph Bissler, Joseph John Bissler, William L. Bissler and Mary Margaret (Bissler) Richards.
He is survived by his wife Janet L. (Crosier) Bissler; children Denise (Ted) Evans, Debbie (Smokey) Beitzel, Donna (Jim) Ward, Dave (Kathy) Bissler and Doreen (Danny) Madonio; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sister Betty (Bissler) Karaffa of Wheat Ridge, Colorado and brother, Daniel Bissler of Oceanside, California.
