Letter to the editor: Send 'em our way

- Letter to the editor

Editor’s note: The Portager publishes letters to the editor from the community. The opinions expressed are published not because they necessarily reflect those of the publication but because we feel they contribute meaningfully to the local discourse on matters of public interest.

The people of Kent send a big THANK YOU to the citizens of Ravenna, Tallmadge and Streetsboro for not passing your school levies. With our freshly approved levy, we will be attracting your young families and their children. As the US birthrate continues to plummet, it will be increasingly difficult for you to sustain your aging towns and cities. While your schools close and your population ages and shrinks, Kent will be welcoming the precious resource of young people to continue growing one of the best small towns in America.

— Scott Nichols, Kent
