Kent will expand the DORA to accommodate two more businesses

A flight of beers rests on the bar at North Water Brewing Co. in Kent on Thursday, May 6, 2021. Don Schjeldahl founded North Water Brewing Co. after travelling around the states and internationally. He'd been to small-town breweries all over and wanted to bring one to Kent, he said. Michael Indriolo/The Portager

Kent is set to extend its Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) borders to include two more businesses. The outdoor refreshment area will extend across the Main Street Bridge and down Gougler Avenue to accommodate the Bell Tower Brewing Co. at the corner of Park Avenue and Gougler.

To guard against potential litter along the Main Street Bridge, city council will make sure trash cans are placed at both ends of it.

On the other side of town, the DORA will extend to include Kent Cycle at 115 Lake St. The idea, council was told, is that people may wish to browse the bike store while enjoying a beer from North Water Brewing Co., which is right next door.
