Kent City Council officially swore in Council At-Large members Benjamin Tipton, Tracy Wallach and Sarah Elizabeth Wesley at its meeting on Dec. 17. Their terms will begin on Jan. 1, 2026.
“It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to Ben Tipton and Sarah Wesley and a happy return to Tracy Wallach,” said Mayor Jack Amrhein. “Their willingness to step forward in service to our community reflects both dedication and a commitment to Kent’s progress. I look forward to working together as we strengthen our neighborhoods, support our residents and build a vibrant future for our city.”

This marks a return to council for Wallach, who previously represented Kent’s sixth ward.
“It’ll be a different council this time, [and] it’ll be exciting to have four women on council,” Wallach said.
For Tipton and Wesley, however, it is their first time serving on City Council.

“I’m just excited to do the good work that is needed for the city of Kent … I love this city,” Tipton said.
Wesley shared the same sentiment.
“I’m ready to get to work for the city of Kent. It’s an exciting time to be on council,” Wesley said.

This was also the last meeting for Council At-Large members Michael DeLeone, Gwen Rosenberg and Roger Sidoti. None had run for re-election.
Ward 1 Council Member Melissa Celko expressed gratitude to the new members after thanking DeLeone, Rosenberg and Sidoti for their service.
“We’re excited to have you, and we hope that you will find a welcoming environment, as I did when I came onto council. We look forward to your voice and your energy and we’re so grateful for you,” Celko said.
Amrhein presented DeLeone, Rosenberg and Sidoti with plaques honoring their service to Kent.
“I want to take this moment to recognize Mike, Gwen and Roger. Each of you have made a lasting impact on the city. On behalf of the administration, city staff and the residents of Kent, I want to sincerely thank you for your service, leadership and dedication to this community. Your work has made Kent stronger and will be felt here for many years to come,” Amrhein said.
