Hometown Bank is giving customers a 21st century upgrade with a new mobile app and website — but there will be some brief down time this month during the transition.
On Monday, July 22, the local bank, which has branches in Kent, Brimfield and Ravenna, will unveil a new technological system used to operate banking products and services. Specifically, online/mobile upgrades “will make your banking experience with us easier, faster and more convenient,” according to a Hometown Bank communication.
Here’s what customers can expect while those upgrades are underway:
- Debit card transactions will be available at a reduced limit from Friday, July 19 to Monday, July 22.
- Balance information will not be available during this time.
- Customers will still be able to make ATM withdrawals during upgrade weekend, albeit at a reduced limit.
- Hometown Bank’s current mobile banking app will be disabled Friday, July 19. On Monday, July 22, the new mobile app will be available for both Android and Apple devices.
- Customers will need to download the new app via Google Play or the App Store (depending on your device). Both personal and business customers can use the app.
- Telephone banking will be unavailable during the upgrade.
Once upgrades are complete and the new system is in place, customers should know that:
- Their debit card will not be changing, nor will they need a new PIN for their debit card.
- They will need to reset their telephone banking PIN. Once the system upgrade is complete, customers can call the telephone banking number at 1-855-673-9828 and follow the prompts to reset their PIN.
