Step into the entrance of Galerie Wellness, a new high-end wellness center and studio at 122 W. College St. in Kent. “You are exactly where you need to be,” reads the black-and-white mosaic tile at your feet.

And you are, if you are seeking group indoor fitness classes, yoga, reiki, sound baths, meditation classes and a number of other workshops.

Two years in the making, Galerie Wellness is the first business to open in Kent’s Garage 108 project. Entrepreneur Valerie Landis envisions the space at 108 to 122 W. College St. as a  social hub for workers and residents seeking coworking spaces, a coffee bar, a rentable commercial kitchen and private event spaces. She also plans a retail-friendly environment for entrepreneurs and small business owners to showcase their startups.

“Starting a project like this, not knowing if the pandemic was coming or going has been a difficult venture,” Landis said. “But now that the space is here and ready, it is more obvious than ever that people need to focus on their overall wellness health. It is both needed and timely.”

Galerie Wellness also offers its clients use of an infrared sauna, chair massage, Thai massage and personalized wellness treatments.

Coming soon are physician-led health consultations, chiropractic care, med spa treatments, acupuncture and other holistic treatments.

Classes are currently between 50 minutes to an hour and a half seven days a week, and currently include a variety of yoga, floor pilates, barre, general fitness, and mindful meditation classes. Class schedules are subject to change based on customer demand.

Fifty-minute classes are $19 per session. Customers may also purchase a five-class punch card for $75, or a 10-class punch card for $150. The fees include the classes, hot or wet towels, use of the infrared sauna the day of the class, and 10% off other treatments such as massages.

Gallerie Wellness is offering a back-to-school special, where customers can attend one class at regular price and bring a friend for free.

To sign up for individual classes or to purchase punch cards, visit Galerie Welness’s website at galeriewellnesskent.com/shop.

Individual sauna sessions are also available for $29. Visit the website for details and purchase options.

Galerie Wellness will also offer popup and workshop events such as an “I AM Retreat” Sept. 10. Additional workshops are planned, each one dedicated to a specific theme such as sound baths, and restorative and reiki sessions.
