In attendance were council members Marianne Glenn, Anthony Lombardo, Jen Wagner, Lisa McDaniel, Steve Michniak and Jon Hannan. 

Also attending were Chief of Police Tricia Wain, Fire Chief Robert A. Reinholz, Economic Development Director Patrick O’Malia, Planning Director John Cieszkowski Jr., City Engineer Justin Czekaj, Law Director Joseph Grandinetti, HR Manager Shawna Lockhart-Reese, Finance Director Matt Miller, Service Director Bill Miller Jr., Clerk of Council Caroline Kremer and Mayor Glenn Broska.

Summary

At the start of the meeting, Erick Ritz was sworn in as a member of Streetsboro’s police department, as well as three part-time firefighters, Patrick Bergen, Jacob Boon and Joshua Strunk. A resolution to recognize Eileen Fitzsimmons for her service to Streetsboro’s community and parks was passed. 

The meeting minutes for the regular Finance Committee meeting on Aug. 25, 2025, were approved. Matt Miller went over the financial report for the month of August. Matt Miller also requested a special Finance Committee meeting to be held on Oct. 13, 2025, due to his inability to attend the second meeting that month. It was adopted. 

There was a request to remove and replace the bleachers at field 7, which passed. Council then went over the purchase of holiday light displays for Streetsboro’s square, which was approved. Wain talked to council about approving repairs on the police building’s old elevator, which was already budgeted for. The repairs were approved. 

A proposed tax abatement for Gebhardt designed to help the company offset the financial hardship caused by tariffs passed. The auction of an old water vehicle and other miscellaneous equipment was authorized. 

The purchase of several Apple iPad devices for the new City Hall building was approved, as well as the regular purchase of Dell devices. The final IT purchases for the new City Hall, including speakers and microphones, was approved. City Council’s contract with the Postage Meter Machine was renewed to a slightly cheaper, 5-year one. Speakers were approved for purchase by the Fire Department. A budget adjustment allowing funds to be used to help clear up trees and allocate funds to departments that need it passed. 

Fire Chief’s Report

Emergency services had been busier in the month of September, particularly in nursing homes. Augmented reality simulations to mimic the use of a fire extinguisher were purchased. 

Police Chief’s Report

A sergeant is currently training at the National Academy, and the police cruisers are missing a few parts before they can be ready for use. 

Other Reports

The wiring of the new City Hall building is almost complete, and winterization on Streetsboro’s splash park has begun. The Economic Development Department will be inviting all of the manufacturing base to hear from professors at Kent State at 8:45 a.m. Nov. 6 at the community center.  

Trees will be cleared in order to help with the Ohio Department of Transportation’s construction on state Route 43. 

Mayor’s comments

The construction of the new City Hall is going well and he was very impressed. 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:31 p.m.

Unanimous approval was also provided for entering into a service agreement with Southeast Local Schools for the services of an ELL tutor, the establishment of an Indoor Track and Field Club at the high school, and the purchase of a new van for the transportation of special education students.

After public comment concluded, Amrhein and council members honored Sue Nelson of Sue Nelson Designs for her contributions to Kent’s community. Nov. 19 was declared Sue Nelson Day to honor her retirement.
