Attendance 

In attendance were Mayor and President of Council Jack Amrhein, Ward 1 Council Member Melissa Celko, Ward 3 Council Member Robin Turner, Ward 4 Council Member Chris Hook, Ward 5 Council Member Heidi Shaffer Bish, Ward 6 Council Member Jeff Clapper, Council Member at Large Michael DeLeone and Council Member at Large Roger Sidoti. Also in attendance were Clerk of Council Kathy Coleman and City Manager Dave Ruller.

Meeting

Amrhein called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. No public comments were made during the public comment period. 

After public comment concluded, Amrhein and council members honored Sue Nelson of Sue Nelson Designs for her contributions to Kent’s community. Nov. 19 was declared Sue Nelson Day to honor her retirement.

Consent agenda

The October and November regular council meeting minutes were approved, as well as drafts 2025-100, 2025-101, 2025-102, 2025-103, 2025-104, 2025-105, 2025-106 and 2025-107.

Committees and Legislation

Council appointed Sara McCarty to the Loan Review Board.

Mayor’s Comment

Amrhein had his first official mayor’s comment, in which he celebrated Kent’s accomplishments and announced he would be having office hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the week. 

“We have a phenomenal administration and I feel very welcome. It’s been a joy working with you guys this past month,” Amrhein said.

Unanimous approval was also provided for entering into a service agreement with Southeast Local Schools for the services of an ELL tutor, the establishment of an Indoor Track and Field Club at the high school, and the purchase of a new van for the transportation of special education students.
