Summary:

The trustees meeting commenced with a township resident seeking approval to use grant funds for the restoration of the driveway at the township’s baseball field. Additionally, the resident aimed to address water drainage issues by installing drains. Having secured $49,000 through state grants, he requested the board’s approval to proceed with the next stages of his plan, which was granted.

Another resident received permission to place two Ohio State banners on their property.

There was no supervisor’s report presented.

Road Supervisor Tony VanSteenberg reported that a fallen tree had also knocked down a telephone pole. The road crew patched holes in the park driveway over the past month.

The fire department decided to donate old equipment to a children’s burn victim unit.

Furthermore, no significant purchases were reported. A new program, Shop with a Hero, was introduced, allowing children to shop with firefighters during the holiday season.

Unanimous approval was also provided for entering into a service agreement with Southeast Local Schools for the services of an ELL tutor, the establishment of an Indoor Track and Field Club at the high school, and the purchase of a new van for the transportation of special education students.

After public comment concluded, Amrhein and council members honored Sue Nelson of Sue Nelson Designs for her contributions to Kent’s community. Nov. 19 was declared Sue Nelson Day to honor her retirement.
