Join the Suffield League for a night of laughter with its annual “Laugh at the Lake” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at St. Nicholas Banquet Hall at 755 S. Cleveland Ave. Joining featured humorist Jeff Blanchard in providing entertainment will be Mike Conley, Mike Gershe and Nancy Abrahms. Tickets cost $60, which includes a first-class dinner. Doors open at 6 p.m. dinner is at 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at Legends & Lore at 1437 State Route 43, Unit B; Knight Graphics Inc. at 1336 Town Square Dr. in Kent; and Charlie’s Garage at 1247 Waterloo Rd. Brimfield
7 Brew is coming to Brimfield. A new building is being constructed in Brimfield Commons across from Aldi.
Zoning is working with the City of Tallmadge to obtain a portion of the lake at McGuire Park which Tallmadge owns. Tallmadge is giving the property to Brimfield, but Brimfield needs to pay for the replat. A purchase order was given to Campbell & Associates to start the work.
Pavlick & Reppas Oral Surgery Center on state Route 43 was approved by the board of zoning appeals. Brimfield Economic Development Director and Zoning Inspector Mike Hlad is working with the property owner regarding completing the lot split and easements.
A new hotel is being proposed in the Highway Commercial District behind McDonald’s. The board of zoning appeals approved the Conditional Use.
The proposed Fairfield Inn by Marriott was granted variances on the temporary fence it installed. The inn obtained building permits and is working on the new fire alarm system and redesigning the sprinkler system.
There will be several new occupancies for Brimfield Plaza: Wing Warehouse, All Pro Sports & Creations and Portage County Republican Headquarters.
The Villas at Wyles Farm apartment homes on Town Square Drive continue site work and constructing apartments. Several tenants have moved into the completed apartments. The county engineer has approved the public roadway improvements from tax increment financing.
Kenda Tire has completed construction.
The Woodland Reserve condominium development at 5036 State Route 43 continues to construct townhomes/condos. Also, tax increment financing is being worked on to run water down state Route 43.
Pleasant Lakes of Ohio has been granted approval to continue with condominium development off Sanctuary Drive. The roadway is now in, and several condos are under construction. Also, the developer will start building behind the Holiday Inn. A zoning map amendment was approved at this location.
VA Cancer Imaging & Infusion Center construction is now complete.
Celebration Church purchased 4494 State Route 43. The church will be starting renovations soon. The Cleveland Clinic will continue renting its space.
Joe’s BBQ is working on interior construction.
A new retail plaza is being constructed at Brimfield Crossing Drive across from McDonald’s. Construction on the building and site continues.
The Hill Church continues work on its new addition.
The old Rico’s Bar is being transformed into a restaurant/bar owned by KWT Commercial
Real Estate LLC. Completion is nearing.
The Schaffer Woods subdivision off state Route 18 has been approved by the board of zoning appeals and regional planning. This new subdivision will have 128 new homes and connect into Chapman Farms.
The Village of Saint Edward assisted living facility continues working on construction of the building and site work.
Human Bean is interested in the old Van’s Tire property.
Plato’s Closet is going into 3975 Cascades Blvd., Units 8 and 10. Interior renovation will begin soon.
A mixed-use development is being proposed south of Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 18. Further information is to follow.
A four-question survey has been created by the zoning commission for property owners of 20 acres or more in the R-3 and R-4 districts. Trustee approval is needed to proceed with the survey.
Trustee approval is needed to add credit card fees to the zoning fee schedule to offset fees being incurred by credit card payments.
There are 69 zoning violation letters out and four in court with the prosecutor’s office.
Forty-one new homes were permitted in 2025.
Zoning permit fees as of Dec. 31 are $79,287.85.
