Around Ravenna: Soudils celebrate 50th anniversary, plus upcoming events
- Angie Reedy
A 50th wedding anniversary party was held by Cliff and Denise Soudil on Oct. 4, 2025 — 50 years to the day of their wedding, Oct. 4, 1975.
The party was held at Roses Run Country Club in Munroe Falls. It was attended by friends and family, including four of the original wedding party members: Debbie Reidy, maid of honor; Donna Hillman, attendant; and Howard Whitted, attendant. All of them are siblings of the bride. Also attending was sister of the groom, Barbara Niemiller, the original flower girl, who was 8 at the time.
Special guest was Helen Whitted, mother of the bride, who will celebrate her 94th birthday this month.
Denise Whitted married Clifford Soudil at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna on Oct. 4, 1975, during a wedding Mass officiated by Father Vincent Lisi.
A proclamation was presented to the couple by Ravenna Mayor Frank Seman, proclaiming Oct. 4, 2025, as “Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Soudil Day.”
Cliff and Denise have been homeowners in Ravenna for all those 50-plus years. Both are retired from Ohio Bell/AT&T and continue to enjoy traveling in the United States and Europe.

Built in Ravenna, Ohio, Riddle Block No. 9’s unique architecture and warm yellow brick stand out in a world increasingly filled with boxy, minimalistic buildings. This doorway has seen 114 years of people passing by — pausing to check their reflections, resting against the wall on hot days or simply passing through the doors without a second thought. Historic buildings are quiet witness to our lives, enduring as time moves on, hopefully outlasting us all. This piece, by Natalie Brennan, was created in line and wash style on hot press paper, using pen, colored pencil, and watercolor.
