“Show me your cemeteries, and I will show what kind of people you have.” – Ben Franklin
The oldest organization in Randolph, the Ladies Cemetery Association, is taking that quote to heart and is in the midst of restoring Sand Hill Cemetery, which is the oldest part of Hillside Cemetery. The LCA will hold a bake sale fundraiser in front of the Randolph fire station on Memorial Day, with all proceeds going toward purchasing materials to clean headstones and rebuild/repair the bases of headstones that have toppled due to weather and erosion.
From May 15-17, there will be a Community Yard Sale that was organized by Waterloo Community Helping Hands. Go here for the map of the more than 80 families in the Randolph/Atwater area that are participating.

From May 16-28, I will be trekking with the Great Ohio Climate March to bring greater awareness of environmental issues affecting our state. Our largest state park, Salt Fork, currently is being horizontally drilled, which unearths radioactivity and produces toxic air/water pollution. There will be a rally at Salt Fork State Park from 2 to 6 p.m. May 23. Randolph residents are more than welcome to attend and food will be provided. For more information, visit https://greatohioclimatemarch.org/rallies/#salt-fork.
On April 29, the Portage County Commissioners held a “Coffee with the Commissioners” at the Randolph Senior Center. This was very thought-provoking, informative and gave attendees the opportunity to view what may happen on a county level if property taxes were abolished.
Peggy Royer, Class of 1948, was the oldest graduate of Randolph High School to attend the 2026 Randolph Alumni Banquet. The last class to graduate from Randolph High School was 1967.
After that school year, Randolph and Atwater consolidated to form the Waterloo school district. The 1966 Randolph class was honored at its 60th anniversary event. Listening to the raucous laughter and hilarious stories at this banquet reaffirmed the truth of Walt Disney’s words, “Laughter is timeless. Imagination has no age. And dreams are forever.”
