Six of the most adorable 3-5 year-olds from Portage County competed in the annual Little Prince and Little Princess Pageant on the opening day of the Portage County Randolph Fair. The pageant was well attended by family members and friends in the fairground entertainment center near the front gate of the Portage County Fairgrounds.
The three girls, LauraLee Englehart (5), Evelyn Bundy (4) and Elliott Rose McEwuen (4) each wore cowboy boots and their favorite dresses as they took the stage to perform their talent and answer some questions about their favorite things at the fair. LauraLee performed a puppet show that included a staring contest between her puppets and her (it ended in a tie), Evelyn sang a wonderful rendition of “Tomorrow” from the musical, Annie and changed outfits before her interview portion while Elliott Rose did a splendid somersault on the stage.
The three boys, Logan Suarez (4), Joel Engelhart (3) and Rayden Kaeka (5) each wore hats and dapper outfits as they danced and sang before answering questions of their own. Logan performed a boisterous breakdance routine, Joel recited a line from a Liberty Mutual Insurance commercial and Rayden wrapped up the talent portion with a minute-long breakdance of his own to raucous applause.
After all the performances and interviews, the three judges had a difficult decision. This year’s Little Prince and Little Princess are Rayden Kaeka and Evelyn Bundy. They both received a blue sash with their new titles and a trophy from last year’s winners, Grayson Rozea and Scarlett Puleo. Eveyln also received a tiara. All participants received cookies and prizes.
