Volunteers needed for Mantua ‘mulch party’ on June 20

The Village of Mantua is throwing a mulch party. Buchert Park’s playground needs new mulch and people willing to spread it where it needs to be.

Playground mulch makes playgrounds safer and more inviting. The soft material cushions the ground, absorbs falls, reduces the risks of slipping, tripping and getting injured and improves drainage.

Service department employees will be on hand June 20 to guide volunteers for what is anticipated to be a few hours work. Tools, water and snacks will be provided.

Volunteers should supply their own gloves, dress for the weather (long pants and closed-toe shoes are recommended) and wear sunscreen. Everyone must sign a waiver before work begins; minors will need their parent or guardian’s signature.

The party is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Register by June 19 by clicking here.

The event is sponsored by ServeOhio, which supports communities to mobilize volunteers and AmeriCorps members for various causes.
