The Portager Knit Cap
The nice thing about this hat is that it keeps your head warm. Designed by local musician and photographer Roger Hoover, The Portager logo is chic enough for a trip to New York and fun enough for a game night bonfire. Wherever you’re staying cozy, raise a toast to your fellow Portagers.
This classic warm beanie is perfect for a cold Ohio winter. (And Ohio fall and spring. Hopefully not summer.) The hat is made of 100% acrylic wool; no need to worry about allergies or moths. Best of all: warm head.
Buying from the Portager Shop is a good idea for two reasons. First, 90% of the profits we make from sales support our journalists. It allows us to tell more stories, report on local government and expand our coverage. We’re not owned by some out-of-state hedge fund, so the money you spend here comes right back to you in the form of important local news.
What about the other 10% of the profits? A tenth of all sales after expenses will go directly to the Socially Responsible Sweatshop of Kent, an organization of sewists dedicated to repurposing landfill-bound textiles into new, useful items. These were the people who stitched together thousands of masks for first responders during the pandemic. They donate all the proceeds from their sales to organizations fighting hunger in Portage County, including Kent Social Services and the Rural Relief Mobile Food Pantry.
