Description
The design
Designed by local musician and photographer Roger Hoover, The Portager logo is chic enough for The Bistro and fun enough for the County Line. Wherever you’re wearing our banner, raise a toast to your fellow Portagers.
The sweatshirt
A good old-fashioned sweatshirt. A Portager staff favorite. Light enough to wear on its own, heavy enough to slip over a shirt and sit out by the fire. Cotton feel sweatshirt with a cozy, fleecy inside.
The medium-heavy fabric is a 50/50 polyester cotton blend with a loose fit. And it runs true to size.
The shop
Buying from the Portager Shop is a good idea for two reasons. First, 90% of the profits we make from sales support our journalists. It allows us to tell more stories, report on local government and expand our coverage. We’re not owned by some out-of-state hedge fund, so the money you spend here comes right back to you in the form of important local news.
What about the other 10% of the profits? Between now and the end of March 2022, a tenth of all sales after expenses will go directly to the Socially Responsible Sweatshop of Kent, an organization of sewists dedicated to repurposing landfill-bound textiles into new, useful items. These were the people who stitched together thousands of masks for first responders during the pandemic. They donate all the proceeds from their sales to organizations fighting hunger in Portage County, including Kent Social Services and the Rural Relief Mobile Food Pantry.
