Marilyn Louise “Casey” Judd
Marilyn Louise “Casey” Judd (nee Kaserman), 90, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024, at her home in Aurora, Ohio. Beloved wife of Tyler Judd for 68 years; cherished mother of Leigh Reardon (Mike); Lewis Judd; and Amy Cicigoi (Kenn); devoted grandmother of Devlin Reardon (Katie), Tess Reardon, Kelsey Cicigoi, and Tyler Cicigoi. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ruth Kaserman, and her brother Lee Kaserman (Annette). Survived by her brother Don Kaserman (Margaret).
Born in Detroit, Michigan, on November 8, 1933, Casey spent much of her youth in Virginia, graduating from Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia. She met her husband Tyler while he was stationed at the Naval Station, Norfolk. They moved to his home state of Ohio after they were married on June 9, 1956, and she got a job as a lab technician at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. Together, Casey and Tyler raised their three children in Newbury, Ohio. During this time, in addition to being a dedicated room mother, Casey managed to also finish her degree at Kent State University, became an art teacher, was elected as a township trustee, and was certified as a Master Gardener. She single-handedly built the “great wall” of Newbury (a meandering stone wall–a true passion project), and she continued to nurture her ever-expanding garden until her dying day. Additionally, Casey was an avid seamstress, quilter, and reader (member of two books clubs), took life-long learning classes, and volunteered with various social organizations. She liked to paint and sold numerous paintings over the course of her lifetime. She was a fierce and loyal friend, staying in touch until the end with her childhood friend, Betsy, with whom she shared a “we will never die” pact. She was always available to help friends and family with sewing repairs and landscaping tasks, regularly sent cookies to her kids and grandkids, and often showed up at neighbors’ doors with baked goods. She will be remembered for her many kindnesses.
