Portage County obituaries for May 2-4

Pat (nee Stanislaw) Gram

Pat (nee Stanislaw) Gram, age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025, with her family beside her.

Cherished wife of fifty-five years of David; devoted mother of Carrie Burson (Andrew), Laura Gram (Jason Downs), and Michael Gram (Meg); beloved grandmother of Luke and Mark Burson, Kyle and Derek Gram; dearest daughter of the late Steve and Cecilia (nee Krokos) Stanislaw; and loving sister of Stephen Stanislaw and Christine Rose (James W., IV).

Education was extremely important to Pat.  She graduated from Lorain High School, the University of Mount Union, and earned her Master’s degree from Wright State University. In her accomplished career as a middle school teacher, Pat shared her love of learning with children, primarily as a 6th-grade Science teacher for Hudson City Schools. During that time, she served as a member of the Science Educators Council of Ohio, developed science curriculum, and enthusiastically shared classroom observations at national teachers’ conventions.

Pat’s love of learning was also something she nurtured in her own children, not only encouraging and enabling their pursuit of formal education, but also by fostering in them the desire to better their own community and beyond. She modeled the importance of
volunteering and giving to others in whatever way they could.

Pat’s strong Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Aurora, where she used her gifts as an educator to share the faith by teaching Parish School of Religion classes. She also served on the Worship
Committee.

Pat loved to travel and she did – from the National Parks to Europe to the Caribbean, she loved to visit new places and see new things!

Pat not only had a gifted mind but also talented hands. She was skilled at counted cross-stitch, fixing clothes, making Halloween costumes, and canning fruits, vegetables, and spaghetti sauce. She was renowned among family and friends for her peanut brittle!

Pat was a member of the Aurora Women’s Study Club, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, the Mount Union 1846 Society and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.

Pat had a passion for learning that never left her, but she was equally passionate about sharing that knowledge in every way possible! She lived a rich and full life and taught her children, grandchildren, and students to do the same. She will be remembered
for sharing her love with anyone who had the privilege of knowing her!

To commemorate Pat’s love of learning,  support to her community, and enable the next generation of scientists, memorial contributions may be made in Pat’s name to the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (https://www.gsneo.org/en/support-us/donate.html).

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Busch-Romito Funeral Home, 19 East Main St., Hudson, OH 44236.

Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 342 South Chillicothe Rd., Aurora, OH 44202, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Aurora Cemetery.
