The week of May 1 brings us a whopping seven different choices for open mic entertainment.

We start off the week in downtown Kent on Sunday, May 1 at the Euro Gyro at 107 S. Depeyster St. The Host is Nick Fleming. The action starts at 8 p.m. This open mic is for stand-up comedy and music (comedy is allotted seven minutes per act and music is allowed three songs). There will be plenty of food and drinks are available. Always a great night of music and laughs. See Nick’s spotlight below.

On Monday, the place to be is Ravenna at 100 E. Main St. for the open mic at Tavern 1888. This night’s guest host will be James and Pat from It’s About Time. The open mic starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. Sign-ups begin at 6:30 p.m. This one fills up quickly so come early and get your spot.

Also on Monday, you can travel out to the VFW at 496 Arch St. in Salem, which is open to the public for this event. Whether beginner or pro you are welcome to come out and be an entertainer. You don’t have to be a musician to stop in and enjoy an evening of live music and friendly people. P.A. equipment is provided, so just bring your instrument. Your hosts are Hippy and Joyce. Kimmy will have your beverages. Open mic starts at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, travel a little bit farther east to Akron (1947 W. Market St.) for the open mic night at the Mercedes Tavern hosted by John Markovich. This event begins at 7 p.m. with signups at 6:30 p.m. Great atmosphere with good music and friends to meet or make.

Also on Tuesday is the monthly open mic at the Kent Lanes in Kent Ohio at 1524 S. Water St. Join your hosts Jake and Jeff as they welcome everyone to come out and enjoy the food, drinks and music. Plus, if you come early enough, maybe bowl a game or two.

On Thursday at the Divine Restaurant found at 2752 Hudson Drive in Cuyahoga Falls is an open mic hosted by Landon Kearns. The fun starts at 8 p.m. Food, spirits and music are all available. Please check this one out.

Finally, on Friday come on out for the open mic at the Silver Swan Tavern found in Cuyahoga Falls at 2704 Front St. It’s always an enjoyable time at this open mic, sometimes a jam or two may break out. Come and be part of the fun.
