Open mics for the week of July 10

The week of July 10 brings us a whopping 15 different choices for our open mic entertainment. It doesn’t matter where you live in the Summit/Portage County area there is an open mic that you can attend. Come out and play or listen to this unique part of the area music scene.

We start off the week on Sunday with the open mic at the Outpost at 4962 state Route 43 in Brimfield. This week this open mic is hosted by Horseshoes and Hand-Grenades and will run from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Come out and enjoy the party/picnic atmosphere with the outdoor stage.

In downtown Kent on Sunday head to the Euro Gyro found at 107 S. Depeyster St. The Host is Nick Fleming. The action starts at 8 p.m. This open mic is for stand-up comedy and music (comedy is allowed seven minutes and music is three songs). There will be plenty of food, and drink is available. Always a great night of music and laughs.

Also on Sunday, we have an open mic at the Bailey Road Tavern. Jesse Kisner aka Hobo Jesco is the host. They have food and drink specials, patio seating and a very chill vibe. The address is 2920 Bailey Rd., Cuyahoga Falls. This open mic starts at 9 p.m. for all the night owls out there and will go until 2:30 a.m. 

On Monday, join Hippy and Joyce at 7 p.m. at the Salem VFW, located at 496 Arch St., Salem. Beginner or pro you are welcome to come out and entertain us. You don’t have to be a musician to stop in and enjoy an evening of live music and friendly people. PA equipment is provided; just bring your instrument. Kimmy will have your beverages ready and cold.   

Also, on Monday come on down to downtown Ravenna for the open mic at the Tavern 1888 (105 West Main St.).  Tonight’s guest host will be Jesse Carter. The fun starts at 7 p.m.  

Finally on Monday for our Akron musicians we have the open mic at the Matinee (812 W. Market St.) with your host Vince Paparella. This open mic will start at 7 p.m.  

On Tuesday, travel a little bit west to Akron (1947 W. Market St.) for the open mic night at
the Mercedes Tavern hosted by John Markovich. This event begins at 7 p.m. with signups at 6:30 p.m. Great atmosphere with good music and friends to meet or make.

Also on Tuesday, is the acoustic open mic at 44 Sharp on 92 St. Rt. 14 in Berlin Lake (N. Benton) Join your hosts Joyce and Hippy as they lead in all the musical fun. This open mic will begin at 7 p.m.

Another choice for Tuesday is the open mic at Wolf Creek Tavern in Norton (3044 Wadsworth Rd.) hosted by Blue Moondog. The action starts at 7 p.m.

Finally on Tuesday, July 12 at the GAR Hall join your hosts Paul Kovac and David Mayfield starting at 7 p.m. for a fun and entertaining evening.  

On Wednesday travel to 3609 Houston Rd. in Norton for the open mic at Houston Pub with your host Vince Paparella. The open mic runs from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. and then an open acoustic jam until 11 p.m.

Also on Wednesday, a new open mic is starting up in downtown Ravenna with Miss Frankie as your host, please visit the West Main St. Winery, Brewery & Cider House located at 234 W. Main St., Ravenna. This fun starts a little earlier here at 6 p.m.

Finally on Wednesday come on down to historic downtown Kent and the Venice Café (163 E. Erie St.) for an open jam night with your host BC Hudson. The jam starts at 7 p.m.

On Thursday at the Divine Restaurant found at 2752 Hudson Dr., Cuyahoga Falls is an open mic hosted by Landon Kearns. The fun starts at 8 p.m. Food, spirits and music are all available. Please check this one out.

Also on Thursday head to 584 W. Tuscarawas St. in Barberton for open mic night at the Kave Coffee Bar. This event is youth and novice friendly. Your hosts are Christopher Haught and Hansen Risley. The open mic starts at 6:30 p.m. and goes until 8:30 p.m.
