Kent City Council is considering Main Street Kent’s request to place a public art display at the north end of North Water Street, just south of the bridge.
Kent would be spelled out in multi-colored upper case letters, and would serve as a gateway element into the downtown from the north, City Engineer Jim Bowling told council’s community development committee last week.
The letters would be made of steel, but they would be constructed in such a way that local artists could install vinyl coverings that would be rotated out every six months.
MSK would be tasked with maintaining both the art piece and the landscaping surrounding it. Council will consider the installation request at its Sept. 1 meeting.
