Letter: 1,600 voters were purged in Portage County

All eligible voters in Portage County should be aware that another voter purge has occurred in Ohio.  More than 1,600 voters in our county have been removed from the voter register. This could be for many reasons, including no voting activity in the past four years, incorrect addresses on the official record, etc.

Some quick numbers of de-registered voters in our county:

Kent — 500

Ravenna — 378

Streetsboro — 180

Garretsville — 175

Rootstown — 50

Our Board of Elections makes several concerted efforts to contact voters who are on this list, but they aren’t always successful if they cannot reach the citizens.

Please check the validity of your voter registration at VoteOhio.gov.

If you are no longer registered, you have until Monday, April 3 to register. Early in-person voting and absentee voting my mail begin on April 4 for the May 2 election.
