How much does a Forever plan cost?
The cost is $1,428 paid one time. This is equal to paying for a Premium Monthly plan at the current rate for seven years.
Why does it say “$1,428.00 then $1.00 every 600 months”?
Our subscription management platform doesn’t have a setting for plans that are billed once and last forever. So we set it up so that you would be billed once and then billed again for $1 every 50 years. We are working to have this renewal payment removed before the time comes for renewal.
What does it mean that Forever plans are transferable?
Once you’ve purchased a Forever plan, it’s yours. You own it, and you’re welcome to give it to someone else at any time. That means you can include it in your will or even sell it for more than you paid for it. The Portager can help facilitate the transfer of a Forever plan by writing to [email protected]. We may ask for proof of identity to complete a transfer.
I don’t think The Portager will be around forever. What if you shut down next year?
The Portager has been around for nearly four years, and our revenue has grown about 20% per year since we began monetizing our service. Many local newspapers that exist today have been around since the 19th century, including the predecessors of the Record-Courier. We believe the Forever plan is not only a safe investment, but in fact your purchase of a Forever plan will help us further establish a strong foundation for growth far into the future. That said, we don’t believe a Forever plan is for everyone, and we offer many other ways to support us and benefit from our journalism, including Premium Annual, Premium Monthly and Plus plans.
Can I cancel a Forever plan?
Forever plans are non-refundable and you can’t cancel it, but we may consider refunds and cancellations within one week of purchase. If at any point you don’t want your Forever plan anymore, contact us and we will help you try to sell to someone else. Contact us at [email protected] if you have questions.
