Kent residents are shifting from weekly to biweekly curbside recycling service, starting this week. The change-over is because of a lack of resources, including driver availability, at the Portage County Solid Waste Management District.
Recycling will be picked up as usual this week. After that, the following schedule will be in effect:
Week of Sept. 13
Week of Sept. 27
Week of Oct. 11
Week of Oct. 25
Week of Nov. 8
Week of Nov. 22
Week of Dec. 6
Week of Dec. 20
Service fees will be adjusted as well, from just under $6 a month to $2.92 per month. According to the agreement council approved earlier this month, city and recycling leaders hope the biweekly schedule is temporary, and full service will be restored at some point next year.
