Franklin Avenue is reopening to traffic, but the Erie Street ice rink is almost here

Franklin Avenue is open to through traffic in Kent, and most of those DORA tables are gone.

Some, however, are migrating to Erie Street, which is now closed to prepare for an outdoor ice rink slated to open Nov. 24.

Ice rink? Yep, in case you missed it, the city has partnered with Kent State to install a 40-by-70-feet rink for all of us to enjoy until Feb. 28. There will be skate rentals available.

The rink will be located between the Kent State Hotel and the PARTA parking deck.

You can read more about the rink here.

Don’t despair, DORA lovers: the tables will be back on Franklin Avenue come spring.
