Democracy Dialogues: Property Taxes, Bond Issues & Levies
April 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Property taxes, bond issues, and levies are critical to funding local services, but how do they really work? How are they assessed, and what impact do they have on property owners and public funding? These questions will be explored in the next installment of the League of Women Voters – Northern Portage County (LWV-NPC) Democracy Dialogues: Property Taxes, Bond Issues & Levies.
This informative session will feature John Kennedy, Portage County Treasurer, Tim Clymer, City of Aurora Finance Director, and Michael Roberto, Aurora City Schools Superintendent, to break down these complex financial mechanisms and explain their real-world implications. Topics will include:
● How property taxes are assessed
● The impact of recent real estate evaluations on tax bills
● How bond issues and levies affect funding for schools, infrastructure, and city services
● Practical examples of how these funding tools shape local governance
The event will include a Q&A session where attendees can ask questions and gain clarity on these important financial topics. Members of LWV-NPC will introduce the speakers and facilitate the discussion.
