Brimfield
The Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council’s (NOPEC) Community Event Sponsorship Program provides financial support to organizations within the Brimfield community.
Brimfield is seeking applications from non-profit organizations for the 2025 Community Event Sponsorship Grant in the amount of $1,500. If selected for this grant, the funds received must be used to sponsor a one-time event that is free and open to the public and takes place in Brimfield during the 2025 calendar year. Applications must be submitted in person or via email by 4 p.m. Friday, April 11. Applicants will be notified of approval or denial by Wednesday, April 16. Grant funds will be disbursed in the third quarter of 2025.
Qualifying organizations must:
- Be a non-profit organization (must be able to show proof of non-profit status).
- Be located within Brimfield Township and directly impact the Brimfield Township community.
- Host events for residents that are free and open to the public.
- Provide an engagement opportunity, enabling NOPEC to connect with residents in a meaningful and relevant way that would not be possible without the sponsorship.
- NOPEC logo and/or name exposure is considered a bonus but is not required to receive sponsorship funds.
- Be able to provide accurate banking information, including bank name, account number and routing number (upon selection). No paper checks will be issued.
Event proposals: - Must be free and open to all residents of Brimfield Township.
- Provide an opportunity for engagement with the public.
- Cannot be politically or religious-centered events.
- Cannot be construed as discriminatory.
- Must align with NOPEC’s mission and values.
- Cannot duplicate existing sponsorships or involve NOPEC’s direct competitors.

Hop on over for a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at Town Center Fields. Eggs and candy will be available while supplies last. No registration is required. Ages: 0-2, Egg Hunting Period: 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Ages: 3-5, Egg Hunting Period: 10:50 to 11:20 a.m. Ages: 6-8, Egg Hunting Period: 11:25 to 11:55 a.m. Ages: 9-12, Egg Hunting Period: Noon to 12:30 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your basket!
Discover the rich diversity of Ohio’s native plants and their vital role in the local ecosystem at the Brimfield Branch Library’s “Rooted in Nature” program, which will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 22. The library is located at 4286 Kelso Dr. Participants will learn how to identify key native plants, understand their ecological impact and explore ways to incorporate them into gardens and landscapes for conservation and sustainability.
Puzzle Face-Off Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25 at the Brimfield Township Community Center at 4538 Edson Rd. This is a fast-paced competition where teams race against the clock to complete a puzzle. The price of admission includes light refreshments, a 300-piece puzzle to take home (one puzzle per group) and prizes.

Enjoy a guided hike through nature’s vibrant display of wildflowers at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at McGuire Park. Learn to identify native blooms, discover their ecological importance and enjoy the great outdoors. This is perfect for nature enthusiasts of all ages.

Sue Fields’ Clean-Up and Flea Market at Brimfield Lions Park will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17. Brimfield residents can drop off unwanted scrap metal, e-waste and large items at Lions Community Park. This year, reserve a flea market spot and give your items a second chance! Atwater
A resolution was passed by the Atwater Township Trustees to accept the 2025 Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council Energized Community Grant in the amount of $3,780.
Another resolution was passed by the township trustees showing support for state Issue 2, which will appear on the May ballot. This issue is a state-local government partnership program that funds local infrastructure projects; it is not a tax increase, because monies come from the state budget.
Atwater Fire Chief Jason Brock reported that the months of January and February saw a total of 147 calls.
A bid from Melway Paving Company in the amount of $70,867 was accepted by the township trustees for the 2025 chip & seal projects for Hall Street, Maple Avenue, Grate Avenue, Petrie Road and Unger Road.
A thank-you note was received from the Randolph-Suffield-Atwater Food Shelf for Atwater’s donation of $5,000. The food shelf expressed how much it appreciated this gift, especially at this time of year.
Atwater Township Clean Up Days will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 2 and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 3. This is open to Atwater residents only; a photo ID is required. A total of eight light duty tires will be accepted for a nominal charge. Document shredding will also be available. Further details can be found at atwatertwp.net.
Waterloo Community Helping Hands (WCHH) is sponsoring a Waterloo community yard sale Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18. Contact the WCHH to have your address put on the yard sale map that will be available. Community businesses are also encouraged to participate. Mogadore
The Mogadore Historical Society’s final Soup and Sandwich Luncheon until the fall will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at the Russell M. Pry Community Center at 3857 Mogadore Rd. For less than $10, you can get soup and a sandwich.
Lions Community Park is now open for the spring, summer and fall.
