County roundup: Atwater electric rates see slight rise, plus Randolph, Suffield, Brimfield and Mogadore news

Atwater

Informational handouts were available at the Feb. 25 Atwater Township trustees meeting regarding the upcoming increase to the capacity charge on future electric bills — from June 2025 to May 2026.

The average Ohio household increase is estimated to be approximately a 10-15% increase, or a little more than $0.02 per kWh.

The capacity portion of electric bills is one component of generation-related charges — keeping generating plants available to supply electricity during peak consumption times. The operator of the electric grid that serves 17 states, including Ohio, holds auctions to set this capacity-charge portion of your bill.

This increased charge does not affect your NOPEC or other energy supplier prices. This increase will affect both residential and commercial users.
