This letter is in response to recent comments made by community members regarding the Ravenna School District not having a workable plan to make our schools more viable and financially sound.
You’ve raised a valid point — the children need support now. However, continuing to approve local school levies only enables the state legislature’s ongoing inaction.
I can say that many of us in the neighborhood and the larger community are not pleased with the condition of state Route 43 (Mantua St.) as we try to drive on it or exit our subdivision. I can also say that we have been dissatisfied with the conditions of our streets within the neighborhood but that is another issue for discussion, hopefully soon.
The transition of electricity generation from fossil fuels to solar power is becoming more obvious in Kent as we notice more home roofs with solar photovoltaic cells. But we can’t say the same about governmental and business buildings.
The Buckeye State is home to 76 state parks spread across the entire state all the way from Lake Erie to Cincinnati and I have had the joy of visiting them all. Some of my favorite state parks come from the Northeast region right here around Portage County.
