Assistant Chief Don Hanna was recently honored at a ceremony held at the Charlestown Volunteer Fire Department. The ceremony marked his retirement after 45 years of service to the fire department. Approximately 40 people were in attendance to thank Hanna for his dedication to protecting the residents of Charlestown.

Charlestown was bursting with excitement Saturday evening when Santa made his annual Special Delivery to some lucky kids in the township.
Charlestown will host its Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 1 at 1 p.m. at the Charlestown Township Park on Rock Spring Road. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance to officially begin the hunt. The children will have the opportunity to have their picture taken and receive a special gift from the Easter Bunny.

Charlestown's Trunk or Treat was a huge success and the weather was perfect. There was a record number of residents who decorated their trunks and handed out candy.
Don Jones celebrated his 80th birthday on Sept. 12. A party hosted by his wife Barbara and daughters Christy Kmetko and April Jones was held at his home. The 40 friends and relatives in attendance enjoyed dinner, reminiscing and a toast to Don. Guests of note were Tom and Pam Ward, who graduated from Tallmadge High School with Don. Don and Tom have been friends since first grade.

My home was full of Christmas joy Saturday night when Santa surprised five excited kids with a special visit. I was hosting a family dinner when, chauffeured by the Charlestown Volunteer Firefighters, Santa and Mrs. Claus rolled up in a fire truck with the lights flashing!
