Aurora requests proposals for lease of historic building

The City of Aurora has issued a request for proposal for the leasing of a commercial space at 10 S. Chillicothe Rd., located on the southwest corner of state Routes 82 and 306.

Aurora is searching for a company or business that will leverage the location and maintain the historic character of the building to attract economic activity.

Due to the building’s location at the entrance to the Aurora Historic District, its character must be preserved as part of the leased building space.

The building, which the city recently purchased, consists of two stories. The first floor has 1,200 square feet, five rooms and a half bath; the second floor is 1,000 square feet with a kitchen and full bath.

The historic building was built in approximately 1825 and opened as the James Converse Store; it was also the previous location of Edward Sutton Insurance.

The deadline for submitting proposals is 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11. Any proposals received after that time will not be considered.

Further details and additional information about the request for proposal can be found on the city’s website at auroraoh.com, by calling the city’s law department at 330-995-9160, or by contacting Mayor Ann Womer Benjamin at 330-995-9126 or by email at [email protected].
