Around Windham: It’s finally spring!

Hello Windham Family!

Happy March, Bomber Country! The time has changed, and longer days are on the horizon. Seeing the sun up past 7 p.m. has done wonders for my soul. I love driving through town and seeing people walking their dogs and kids riding their bikes. Spring is finally in the air and here are some exciting events coming up in our little town:

1 – 2 – 3 – 4, We declare a Penny War! As of St. Patrick’s Day, the Windham Bombers PTO will be hosting a penny war grades vs. grades at Katherine Thomas Elementary School. All donations will go toward our PTO to continue to support Windham Schools. Check their Facebook page every day for progress updates to see who comes out on top. Give all your extra change to your favorite KT Elementary kid, the winning grade will get a pizza and movie party.

The Village of Windham will be hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 13 at The Windham Park. Monetary donations and unopened bags of candy will be accepted until April 7 to help fill the eggs with plenty of goodies. The Easter Bunny will be there to take photos with the children. Two age groups: 1 through 6 and 7 through 13. Please register by April 7 at [email protected].

Join the Windham Village and Township for a joint community cleanup weekend from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26. Clear your clutter and put it in the dumpsters located at the Wastewater Plant at 9958 E. Center St., Windham (next to the American Legion). They will close when all the dumpsters are full. Items not accepted: no flammable items or paint, no construction materials and only four tires per household allowed.

Formerly known as Surplus Deals, Barb’s Bargains is now open, located in the plaza behind the Circle K, 8922 E. Center St., Windham. They offer a variety of products and items and also have baked goods. Check out their Facebook page for more information.
