Around Suffield: All-you-can-eat soups and some great laughs coming to Suffield

Things are very busy for the months of February and March around Suffield. Two popular planned fund raisers are scheduled.

The Annual Chili Cook-off now called “Super Bowl Chili Cook-off” is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 10. But, not just chili this year, but also other homemade soups can be entered. So if you have a homemade soup specialty, this is the time you can share it and possibly win a prize. Everyone is invited to enter and compete for the tastiest soups. Guests will participate in the judging of best chili or other types of homemade soups for prizes.

Doors open for soup entries at 5:30 p.m. Doors open for the public at 6 p.m. For $5 per person, you get all-you-can-eat soups, along with toppings and cornbread.

The event is being held at the Suffield Lions Club located on East Waterloo Road, next to the Suffield Elementary School.

The event is sponsored by The Suffield League, Suffield Lions Club and the Suffield Township Historical Society.

The Suffield League would like to invite you to mark your calendars for the popular Annual Laugh at the Lake event. The date is Saturday, March 9! Widely known comedian Jeff Blanchard is the headliner, with Mike Conley and Michael Greshe accompanying him. They always share hilariously funny stories relating to our local area along with the latest popular news day sketches.

The event is held at the lovely St. Nicholas Banquet Center located at 755 S. Cleveland Ave. in Mogadore. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $55 (with tables of eight) Tickets are limited and sell out very fast. It is a great night out with a first class dinner and entertainment.
