Around Ravenna: Spaghetti dinners, brunch and more meals and meetings coming up in March

Don’t forget the Immaculate Conception monthly spaghetti dinner. It will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at the parish hall, 251 W. Spruce Ave., Ravenna.

Dinner consists of salad, bread and butter, spaghetti, meatballs, drink and dessert. The cost at the door for dining in or carrying out is $12 for adults, $5 for 5-year-olds, and free for younger than 5. Come and bring your friends for a fun night out!

The dinners are held on the third Thursday of every month except in April, because of Easter the dinner will be held on the 24th.


The Auxiliary of University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna will host its Fashion Show Brunch Benefit at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center, located at 215 S. Depeyster St., in Kent on Saturday, April 5.

The Auxiliary is celebrating more than 80 years of championing quality healthcare in Portage County.

In addition to the style show and brunch buffet, they will also have a silent auction basket raffle, 50/50 tickets and a cash/credit card bar.

Doors open at 10 a.m., brunch at 10:30 a.m. and fashion show at 11:30 a.m. Our special guest and MC will be Ravenna’s own Jessica Van Meter.

The Portage County Historical Society will host the group’s yearly forum at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22.

Over the past 15 years, the historical society has set aside March for the local historical societies to meet at the PCHS with the goal of fellowship and networking to share their combined commitment to local history and preservation.

They will be hosting a continental breakfast for society presidents, executive directors and representatives with the forum and program. Each society in attendance will be given the opportunity to speak on their efforts to preserve the records of their designated community.

The Spring Shoot will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1055, 6000 New Milford Road, Ravenna, on Sundays now through April 13, beginning at 9 a.m.
The event is open to the public and prizes include turkey, ham, bacon, meat packs and cash.


The Ravenna Eagles Fish Fry is held from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays at the club, 812 Cleveland Road, and is open to the public. Dinners include fish, shrimp, chicken or combos, with side dishes, from $9 to $13. Dine in or carry out.
