Around Randolph: Harvest dinner at Barton Family Farm, plus more news from the township

There are only two ways to live your life. One as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. Albert Einstein

With every breath, life enhancing oxygen courses through your body, and with every bite of food is the opportunity to heal in ways beyond what one can imagine. Some physicians recommend eating at least 30 fruits/vegetables per week. For many of us this is easy to accomplish by growing our own, shopping at farmers markets or buying expensive produce from your grocer. However, some community members have had challenges.

In September, 88 people trekked through the fields of the Barton Family Farm to participate in the Haymaker Harvest dinner. Susan White, Randolph Township Trustee was one of the sponsors and attendees of this event. All proceeds from this fundraiser went towards expanding local food access to those who least can afford fresh produce. Because of the success of this dinner, the Haymaker Farmers’ market was able to substantially increase the services of WIC perks, Produce Prescription and the Power of Produce Kids Club. Thank you to all of you who helped with this heart-warming event!
