Around Garrettsville: Sip n Shop a hit in Garrettsville, plus more events coming up

The Sip n Shop was a huge success. Co-organizer Sherri Collins and I are already planning next year’s Sip n Shop on Main.

The date will be July 26, 2025, the fourth Saturday in July. We are excited to announce The Curtains up Theatre will benefit from the proceeds of the event. Holiday decorations on Main Street will still be one of their priorities with the Community Theatre’s future in addition.

The Sip n Shop committee is happy to announce Rachel Yarnell and Facet Salon and Day Spa have agreed to be their main sponsor again. “Thank you to all our wineries and artisans, we could not have done this without you,” they said. See you next year on Main Street in Downtown Garrettsville.

The Roger Angel Memorial Car Cruise and Peach Social is set for 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Garrettsville Fire Station. Once again, the infamous Dennis Chandler Band will surround the area with their music. Come out and enjoy the peach pies, sliced peaches and ice cream.

The last Car Cruise will be Sept. 2 from noon to 6 p.m., which will be the Zach Peterson Memorial Car Cruise at Nelson Ledges Race Track.

The St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus will host a Steak Dinner from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at the St. Ambrose Church Hall, 10692 Freedom St., in Garrettsville. The dinner includes steak (or a grilled chicken breast), potato, salad, vegetable and dessert. The cost is only $25 per person or $40 per couple.

The Curtains up Theatre is busy getting ready for the January 2025 show, “Charlotte’s Web.” Audition announcements to follow.

The Curtains up Theatre’s murder mystery group is also busy getting ready to support the Garrettsville/Nelson Food Pantry with their “Murder on the 19th Hole” murder mystery dinner event, coming Oct. 19. Watch for ticket opportunities coming soon.

The Garrettsville Farmer’s Market is still running until Aug. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays, rain or shine.
