Ready for fall 2023 soccer season? Register your child now as it closes July 20. The first game will be Aug. 19 and the last game will be Oct. 7. A tournament will be scheduled Oct. 7. This season has a minimum of seven games. All games are played on Saturday with Labor Day weekend off. Games will be played in Edinburg or Alliance. Practice days will be Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday and schedules are subject to change due to weather cancellations.

Every player will be required to have the following items at every practice and game: a water bottle, shin guards, soccer ball and approved soccer shoes. The birth matrix for the Rec team is as follows: Tenderfoot – Jan. 1 2018 to Dec. 31, 2020; U8 – Jan. 1, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2018; U10 – Jan. 1, 2014 to Dec. 31, 2015; U12 – Jan. 1, 2012 to Dec. 31, 2013; and U14 – Jan. 1, 2010 to Dec. 31, 2011. Cub Scout Pack N0. 3558 will be hosting an Ice Cream Buffet on the lawn of the Edinburg United Church at 6 p.m. July 31 for any boys or girls kindergarten through fifth grade interested in joining and wanting to find out more about it. In addition to ice cream, there will also be games that night. The church is located at 4081 Rock Spring Road, Edinburg. Email [email protected] with any other questions.
There have been lots of signs in the community in support of our teachers and staff at Southeast School District. If you would like a sign for your yard, message the We Support Southeast Teachers and Support Staff group on Facebook.
Halliday’s Winery will be hosting its first outdoor market from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 22. There will be more than 30 local makers and vendors there as well as a fundraiser of raffle baskets for the Southeast Educational Boosters. Halliday’s is located at 2400 NE River Road, Lake Milton.
Voting on Issue 1 will be on Aug. 8. Voting for Edinburg is held at the Edinburg Town Hall located at 6856 Tallmadge Road. Early voting is also available by visiting the Portage County Board of Elections office located at 449 S. Meridian St., Ravenna, until Aug. 6. Make sure to bring your photo ID no matter which location you choose.
The free lunch program at Reed Memorial Library is still available through Aug. 11. Any child aged 1 to 18 years old can stop at the library for lunch Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The library is located at 167 E. Main St. in Ravenna.
