Around Charlestown: Summer plans and photos from the Memorial Day parade

Charlestown Community Yard Sale Day will be Saturday, June 22, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents who register their sale with the Activity Committee will be given a special balloon to display at the end of their drive way or on their mailbox, will be listed on a community map that will be available at each sale and on the Charlestown Activity Committee Facebook page.

Sales may be registered up to June 14 at [email protected] or by texting 330-281-3723. Please leave your name, address and phone number.

You are welcome to open your sale on additional days if desired. Community signs will be displayed, however, you may want to place some of your own. Questions or comments are welcome.

Charlestown United Methodist Church will be having a Trash to Treasure sale on the Community Yard Sale Day! Stop in at 6408 Rock Spring Rd. on June 22 to find some treasure you can’t live without. Everything will be priced to go! There will be free hot dogs and bottled water for all as long as they last. So be sure to stop in while you are hitting all the other great sales of the day!

Planning for the Charlestown 21st Annual Summer Festival and Cruise In on Saturday, Aug. 3, 3-7 p.m. at the township park is well underway. The activity committee, with the support of our generous donors, has been working tirelessly to provide you with a fun, family friendly, virtually free event!

Yes, Cruise In. You read that correctly. After a brief hiatus, the car show is being resurrected! Cars, trucks and motorcycles are all welcome. Vehicles should arrive by 2 p.m. There will be seven trophies awarded: Best of Show; Kid’s Choice; Best Muscle; Best Import; Best Paint; Best on Two Wheels; and Best Performance. Charlestown Township Park offers a beautiful, shaded area for you and your vehicle. For more information, please text Jesse at 330-690-3193.

Outback Ray and his Amazing Animals will make an appearance. There will be face painting, a balloon twister, dunk tank, the climbing wall and bungee jump and the Charlestown United Methodist Church will have a school supply give away. DJ Crew will be there to spin some of your favorite tunes along with so much more for you to enjoy. Food trucks will be available to satisfy your hunger and quench your thirst. So make plans now to attend. More information will be coming in the July column of Around Charlestown and at Charlestown Activity Committee on Facebook.

I would like to share with you some of the highlights of the Memorial Day Parade and Service held on Sunday, May 26, 2024.
